Update IUCN statuses

Paste the wikitext of an article or list, or the address of its English Wikipedia page. This page returns the same wikitext with the IUCN statuses updated to match the latest global assessments in IUCN Red List version 2026-1. All other text is returned unchanged.

Options

A regional assessment gives a taxon's status in that region only. With a region chosen, statuses and the comparison with the group use each taxon's latest assessment for that region. Taxoboxes always get the global status.

Adds a column with each taxon's status in the chosen list to the report and to the tables of the “Comparison with” section, including the table of taxa missing from the page. The wikitext is not changed. The number after each list is how many IUCN Red List taxa have a status in that list. When you load a page from Wikipedia and its title names a country, a list of that country is chosen if it has a status for any of the page's taxa.

Reuses a named reference in the wikitext that already cites the latest assessment. Otherwise adds a new <ref> with {{cite iucn}}, or with {{cite Q}} when the {{cite Q}} option is ticked.

The template goes after the scientific name and any authority in brackets, on list lines (* or #) that name one IUCN taxon. A column is added only to tables with one header row at the top, the same number of cells in every row, and no rowspan or colspan.

Species Check does not save your text or edit Wikipedia. Copy the updated wikitext back into the article yourself.

What this page updates

This page also updates the {{cite iucn}} citation in a taxobox's status_ref, and the status columns of other wikitables.
